How to use the Jackson Peg Tube Stand.
To
stabilize the device, the user sits in a chair and places the mast between
the legs with the base under the legs. Once it is secure a 60-cc bulb
syringe is placed in the clamps at the front of the holding device. Once
in the holding device, the syringe is secure and the peg tube port is
attached to the tip of the syringe.
It works off the gravity feed principle as the syringe is at a higher
level than the stomach. The liquid food is poured into the syringe mouth
to flow through the tube and into the stomach.
The
tube needs to run straight from the syringe to the stomach. To get the
right angle, adjust the height of the aparatus by pressing in on the clip
at the front of the device and slide to the correct hole in the shaft.
You
can also adjust the position of the base by using the pivot on the mast
to bring the syringe holder closer or farther away from the body to accommodate
different heights and styles of chairs. This is particularly useful when
eating in a car.
It can also be used for liquid or crushed medications.
